Aug 2016. After my venture into Autogyro models (see my planes) I was looking for something completely different to try. Why not this Rotodyne if it works it will look great so here we go.
First flights will be with the rotor running free followed by the fitting of a motor to power the rotor hopefully.
Normal construction methods photos below.
Fuselage construction using my Keel method.
Rotor shaft with three bearing.
TURNIGY outrunners 35-36 1400.
Fitting nacelles to wing.
TURNIGY retracts fitted also all wiring.
June 2017. Model has been completed and test flown, I am sorry to say the model was totally unstable and just flyable, coming round on another lap the model decided to do a very small loop and went straight into the ground total destruction. On looking into the wreckage I found one of the rotor blades pointing up at 45 degrees, the head had broken and I think this was the cause of the crash.
